New Marathon Game Whaaat and Stuff
Saturday, 27 May 2023 10:30Uh. Apparently Bungie is on it. Yeah! But it will be a player-vs-player thing. Booo! But they know Marathon fan are a bunch of people that will poke their collective nose in every nook and cranny of the HTML code and image pixel to look for hints, and Bungie gave exactly that in the form of a nice ARG which revealed a bit of the lore and behind-the-scenes. Yay! But being in my timezone mean everything happened while I was sleeping. Boo!
Anyway, as an appreciator of that kind of "Designers Republic" style, I kind of like that look, even if it has nothing to match with the original one.
Will I get it? I don't know, I dislike PvP and over that I'm also shitty FPS player to boot. [I'm still asking myself how I managed to finish Apotheosis X]. Plus I'm on Linux and even if Steam+Proton can do a lot of things and my laptop is a high-end one, I don't keep myself too optimist on it.
Ah, and what about everything else?
Move finishes, still some stuff to rearrange and still have to get some bureaucracy loose things finished. The Husband finally reunited! Depression still going with highs and lows, I realized how much I went overdrive in these months and now I get tired for the flimsiest kind of activity. Slowly getting to draw again, nothing new, at the moment I'm doing lineart of old stuff.
I also might or might not become slightly more active on my Tumblr...

Variou&sundry (the "I'm running on fumes" version)
Thursday, 1 April 2021 19:18I realized that last entry was more than six month ago. Eeeek!
Lots of stuff kept me away from social media (my Twitter and Instagram presence are as scarce, indeed) but at least yestyerday we had a flick of light at the end of the tunnel, hoping it's not an incoming train.
Yesterday the husband had his vaccine, yay! And the hospital is the usual Marathon-level building I already talked about. We got lost again, still an annoying thing expecially considering he's a wheelchair user, but at least it was a sunny, beautiful day and the hospital block has trees and gardens to get a whiff of spring.
Not that I'm too eager to go toward the heat, but whatever. We had a good day.
Ah, and speaking of Marathon, I also made a thing.

Whoa, time flies °_°
I'll go for a summary.
1) Married! The test came out clear, whew. Simplest ceremony ever. Well, we had what we did want, after all. Would have preferred it without the whole pandemic detail, however. And we still can't live on our own (complicated issues at play). But. Married!
2) New PC! And the exact version of Linux Mint (more precisely, the kernel that comes with it) I intended to install on it is the one with problem in recognizing the tablet/monitor I use. Solutions: downgrade (not safe) or upgrade (not easy). Well, I guess it's time of learning how to do the latter.
3) New kitten! Not the best moment (many problems in family, resident cat older and non particularly friendly) but she's there. Whatever, because eeeeee kitten! Name's Codina (it means Little Tail) but I started to call her the local slang word for "small rat" because she's grey, she squeaks instead of meowing and she's in a nearly constant state of motion. (The husband frowns at this, but I'm known to give weird names at cats.) Seriously, I never saw a two months kitten so small and so active. This still photo is basically one of the two I have of her where she's awake and not blurred. And she purrs so much! Eeeee! Small! Cute! (No, seriously, how a thing so small can purr at that volume?!?)

Various&Sundry (spare PC edition)
Monday, 7 September 2020 11:53And now the spare at least work. Granted, I indulge myself in being quite the Google speleologist, and at least I found how to get around the error the installation gave me.
(Still, someone at ASUS might have felt a tremble in the Force these days.)
Anyway, old PC not salvageable -- but the HDD is ok and now I have boxed it as an external one and yea! Data legible and I don't have to get in the arcane art of dealing permissions under Linux!
Except, new PC is not exactly an over-the-counter one, and it will arrve not before two other weeks.
Other thing: ARGH WEDDING and guess what, I had to take a Co***19 test (house dweller with symtoms, that then resolved in other things, but we already took the test s a precautional measure). Results tomorrow. ARGH.
At least I don't have to organize anything other than finding a nice dress (done!) and how the heck to get to the place with car.
Quick and sloppy explanation for not-italians or not-europeans in general: the municipal building is in the centre of city, the Historical Center, as it happens with many Italian cities older than two/three centuries. Which are many. My one is older that Roman Effing Empire and every major change all happened before the car age, and now everything is considered history monument and can't be changed anymore. This mean downtown access by car is strictly regulated for anything is not living there, a bus, or a taxi (and even taxis can't enter certain zones).
Normally I walk, it is, after all, a rather small area, but the husband can't and can't take a bus :(
So I have this permission valid only for the time of the ceremony, sigh, and I couldn't even go and take a coffee in a nice bar around there after the ceremony, because the permission will expire right after the ceremony.
And yes, the access is ckecked automatically, otherwise in this case I would have behaved like the tipycal Italian and stole another half an hour.
Now, when will they send me these damn test results??? I'm fuming!

Various Sundry (smartphone edition)
Saturday, 22 August 2020 14:13... Because a smartphone is what I have available right now. My main PC broke, the spare I have is too old to get anything on it, and a second spare I was given... Well, I installed Linux Mint a bunch of times on a bunch of PCs but never I saw something go so catastrophically wrong like what I've seen on that one.
Of course, right in the middle of August when everyone take a vacation.
Anyway, I'm here, just without a functioning PC, and it's so hot I can't use my brain. Blergh.

general_radix thorough editing, thank you!)
Touch on AO3
(maybe I was overzealous with warnings, expecially for my past as An Old Fart of the internetand having seen things you humans can't imagine but I'd rater be over-cautious than to risk to make someone uncomfortable, C'mon, it's just being decent.)

Various&Sundry (special edition)
Monday, 20 July 2020 20:13Remember when I said I have a husband but he's not technically my husband because we're not officially married for a whole lot of messy reasons? Well, we decided that we had enough and September, 10th the marriage will become official.
...to be honest, we decided in March, but then, well, lockdown and then all the backlogs.
It will an extremely frugal, one might say spartan, civil cerimony, either for Covid reasons, but also because either for family and work and my mental state I can't get organized something more complex that "go to municipal office and pronounce the oath then sign a sheet and MAYBE exchange rings if I can get over my phobia of rings" and him, having a bunch of invalidities and other hurdles, he's in the same boat so to say; also because we don't feel, right now, with all the f***ery is happening in the world, the reasons to celebrate, and also because for the aforementioned complex reason there will be a lot to wait before we could properly live together.
We will do a proper celebration party next year, hoping that the whole Covid stuff will relent at least to be able to invite family and friends.
And for me a "proper party" means finding a nice, rustic place, getting an industrial quantity of food and beverages, and a special corner with assorted breads and a five kilos bucket of Nutella at center. And a ladle. Everything else is optional. [The husband has an extremely restricted and particlular diet for health reason so I'll have to find a way to not make him feel excluded, poor thing]
Now my main mission is finding a dress. In the sense, a dress that doesn't seems I got caught by a storm, wrestled with the cat and then slept in it. And my fashion style doesn't get more complex than "baggy t-shirts, turtlenecks, bootcut yoga pants and that oversized pair of jeans I bought ten years ago that now is the only one thing I can wear".
